I was lucky to be gifted a pair of OOFOS OOahh Sport Recovery Slides to review. I didn’t know what to expect, but as soon as I slid my feet into the OOFOS I felt love and my feet went ‘ooooahhh’.

Read on for my in-depth review of the slides. I had the slides in Smoke, but there are many other colours available. There are also many different styles of OOFOS to try in both men’s and women’s fits.

In-depth review of the OOFOS OOahh Sport Recovery Slide

I’ve been aware of OOFOS for a few years now. I tried a pair on at the London Marathon Expo last year, and was really impressed with how they felt. I didn’t buy a pair then as I couldn’t fit them in my rucksack. Since then they’ve been on my wish list.

When I was gifted a pair I got very excited! I thought they’d be perfect for my summer post-race routine. Well, post race might have to wait until summer 2021 now, but my feet can still benefit from them this summer by wearing them around the house and garden.

Road test

The OOFOS arrived at the start of the Spring heatwave we had here in the UK, so a perfect time for a road test. I decided that I should get my feet nice and hot beforehand, so I did an at-home gym workout, followed by a run. As soon as I walked through the door, I kicked off my trainers and socks and slid my feet in to the OOFOS – my feet went ‘AHHHhhhhhhh’.

It felt like I was walking on clouds because they are very soft and squidgy, yet supported too. My feet felt at home; they felt love and I didn’t want to take them off. I wore them all morning around they house, and I did some gardening in them too. My feet felt like they were relaxed and, even when I removed them, they still felt at ease. I couldn’t wait to go running the next day, just so I could wear my OOFOS again.

Fit

I bought a size 6, which is my true shoe size and it fits perfectly. I do have wide feet and the slides are wide enough for me. They feel like the right amount of support on the foot. I have worn them around the house for a few days now and there is no sign of any blisters or rubbing.

Material

The material is soft and squidgy with all edges being curved. The foam is called Oofoam, which absorbs 37% more impact than other performance foams. The top of the slides are made from thin foam too, which moulds to your foot.

Gripes

I can’t find a gripe with the slides themselves; they fit perfectly and they’re amazingly comfortable and bouncy. The only thing I would mention is the packaging being plastic, but I understand this is the cheapest option compared to a cardboard box. You do get free delivery from OOFOS, which is great.

OOFOS OOahh Sport Recovery Slides: the verdict

I love them! I didn’t know what to expect with the OOFOS Ooahh Sport Recovery Slides, but I really love them. The first time I tried them I went ‘ooohhahhhhh’, and that still happens every time I wear them. They just feel super bouncy, and I feel like I’m walking on clouds.

With the material being soft and squidgy, it means they haven’t rubbed or caused me blisters. They are extremely light, so your feet don’t have to work hard to lift them as you walk. With them being so light, they won’t add weight to your race-day kit bag.

These are going to be perfect for the summer after a long run or after a race when your feet are hot and achy. You can kick off your trainers and slip your feet in, and give your feet some well-earned TLC. At the same time, the foam will absorb the pressure as you walk around with the medal around your neck.

I guess you could also wear them in the winter with a pair of funky socks. Well, as long as it’s a dry day so your feet don’t get wet!

They are expensive, but I would say that they are worth the money as we need to look after our feet as runners. We spend money on the right trainers to run in and buy compression clothing to help the body to recover, so we should spend money on helping our feet to recover. Our feet work hard every day, especially when we are running, so by using OOFOS we are sending love to our feet.

I love them so much that I need another pair to just wear around the house. Think these will be my new slippers!

About OOFOS

The team behind OOFOS is a friendship dating back to the athletic footwear boom of the 70s and 80s. They spotted a gap in the footwear market: the need for recovery footwear. After 30+ months of development, they developed their Oofoam and OOFOS recovery footwear was born.

If slides are not for you, then OOFOS do sandals (fit flops/thongs), adjustable slides, clogs and a slip-on trainer shoe.
